It All Matters

Aaron ElseBlog, Engage Better, Lead Better, Manage Better, Reflect Better

TL;DR:

  • Everyone is facing something, and it matters to each one of them.
  • Think about how you think, act, and treat others because it matters.
  • Focus on what’s most important today because it matters.

It All Matters

The signs are all around us.

A neighbor one street over was in a car crash.

A friend of a friend was diagnosed with cancer.

Your old high school math teacher died of a heart attack.

A colleague was diagnosed with breast cancer.

The stories on the news.

The headline in your social media feed.

Do we read them?

Do we prepare?

Do we know when it will be our turn?

It matters how you treat every student in your class every moment of every day because they matter every moment of every day. Click To Tweet

How close to home until we sit up and get to work to make the most of the time given to you?

How long until you decide to truly pour your heart into your life?  Your marriage?  Your children?

How long until you decide to become the principal or teacher your kids need?  The principal or teacher you needed when you were younger?

How long until you think about the legacy you leave behind?

It all matters.

What you did today.  What you are doing now.  What you plan to do tomorrow.

Do you celebrate Monday with your kids or cheer only on Friday?

Do you look into the heart of your students, or are you too focused on what they can’t do right now?

It matters what you say.

It matters what you hate as much as it does what you love.

It matters how you treat every student in your class every moment of every day because they matter every moment of every day.

Show your students that they matter and they will do anything for you.

It matters.

When you pass, nobody will care what you wore.  Nobody will say anything about the car you drove.  Your political views.  Nobody will even care about the reading lesson on a Tuesday in April.

What they will care about is how you treated them.  How you spoke to them.  How you showed up day in and day out for them.  How you made them feel special.

Is today the day you will change the script?  Write a new story?  Or will you wait for the next crisis to land near you?

Start now.

Today matters.  It all matters.
