The Game: Press Conference

Press Conference is an improv game that involves 3-8 players.

What you’ll need:

A microphone (or pretend microphone) is optional.

Prep work:

This game takes very little preparation. You could provide a list of famous people you are studying to make choices easier, or you could make this list with your students before gameplay. You could also give or show an example of a press conference before this game is played.

How to play:

One person is the interviewee and will leave the classroom. The rest of the class will be the journalists. While the interviewee is gone, the journalists will decide who the interviewee will be, choosing from the list you made.

The choice of famous or historical person should be well-known by the class.

Invite the interviewee back in the room to begin the press conference. The journalist will ask creative questions that will lead the interviewee to know who they are supposed to be. For example, if the famous person is Abraham Lincoln, you could ask, “Did you read many books as a child?” “Why do you think honesty is so important?”

The person being interviewed answers the questions and attempts to figure out who they are supposed to be. You can set a time or question limit as needed. The game is finished when the person guesses who they are or reach the time/question limit.

Have fun!
