How do we create a better world for our kids? Understanding each other’s cultures is a good start and music is an easy and fun way to develop curiosity toward others who appear different. When we look for what’s wonderful about others who appear different we begin to build the bridges necessary to a kinder, fairer and and better world!
In this episode of The Happy Music Teacher Podcast, I chat with my friend and colleague, Daria Marmaluk-Hajioannou. World Music children’s performer DARIA (Daria Marmaluk-Hajioannou) has spent four decades performing in the USA and around the world, creating music to inspire all the world’s children. Along with multiple Parent’s Choice Awards and numerous national awards for her culturally diverse music, Daria is a published author of world music teaching resources that introduce children to global cultures through music, world music instruments and musical play.
Daria and I chatted about her journey to arrive where she is today as a true expert of multicultural music. She shared info about many of her resources and how she can help us in our adventures as elementary music teachers.
