Jeff Gargas and Alex Valencic recap an engaging School Administrator Mastermind during which we explored ideas for how we can better prepare and support students and teachers during state testing. Our conversation began with addressing the reality that students often don’t place enough value on state tests, and how we as administrators can better help them see the connection and impact state testing has on their schools and potentially on their futures. From there, we discussed how school leaders can support classroom teachers during state testing season, helping them to see the value in what is often seen (and felt) as an anxiety-riddled burden. The overall theme was to ensure your teachers know that you are in the corner, understand the stress that comes with state tests, and are working to support them and help them through the process.
